Complete Guide to Resizing & Editing Images

photoresizer is a collection of free, browser-based image tools. Every tool works without any server upload — your files stay on your device at all times. This guide walks you through everything you can do, step by step.

Step 1 — Upload Your Image

Click the upload area or drag and drop your image file directly onto it. We support JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, and AVIF files up to 50MB. Your file loads instantly — no waiting for an upload to complete because nothing is sent to a server.

Step 2 — Configure the Sidebar

The right sidebar contains all your controls. Set your target width and height in pixels, choose a preset (Instagram, Passport, etc.), set a KB target, adjust quality, choose the output format, rotate or flip the image, and apply basic filters like brightness and contrast.

Step 3 — Preview Live Changes

The canvas area shows a live preview of your image as you adjust settings. You can see the before and after side-by-side using the comparison slider. The stats bar shows the original and estimated output file size so you know exactly what you're getting before you download.

Step 4 — Download Your Image

Click the Download button and your resized image is saved directly to your device. The filename includes the new dimensions for easy reference. No watermarks are added, no account is required, and there are no download limits.

Sidebar Controls — What Each Setting Does

Width & Height
Enter your target pixel dimensions. Toggle the lock icon to maintain the original aspect ratio automatically.
Quality Slider
Controls JPEG compression level. 85–95 is ideal for photos you want to look good. Lower values reduce file size more aggressively.
Target KB
Enter a specific file size in KB. Our binary search algorithm automatically finds the quality level that hits your target within 1KB.
Format
Convert between JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, and AVIF. WEBP gives the smallest file at good quality; PNG is best when you need transparency.
Presets
One-click dimension presets for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, passport photos, print sizes (A4, 4×6), and common web resolutions.
Filters
Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation with sliders. Changes apply to the canvas in real time so you can see the effect instantly.
